I first picked up a guitar at the age of 8 years old, and have been playing ever since. Playing Rock & Roll guitar all thru my teens was a blast and ultimately gave my bass playing a unique edge. I made the transition from guitar to bass when my tastes in music started to lean toward modern jazz & pop music. I fell in love with the funk bass sound and how it propelled the song but gave space to the other players & vocalist to do their thing....
Being involved in the music ministry at my church for the past 20 years has had a profound effect on my playing. The band has to cover many different styles.... from folk to funk..... from reggae to rock & roll...... all in the same set. It has made me a strong player as well as very diverse. I had no idea that church music could be so kickin'. I guess I was just visiting the wrong Churches........
for over 8 years. They are a very special group of
guys that love God and are very talented. I helped
them write and record thier last project CrossRoads.
All bass tracks were recorded with a 6-string Archer
Elite (maple, walnut & bubinga) with a lacquer finish,
graphite neck, EMG P/J w/BTS pre-amp through
SWR amp & Cabs, using Stainless steel strings.
Phat, Phat, Phat........
God's Examples is currently in the studio recording our newest offering as a follow up to the BreakThrough CD..... This CD is gonna hurt folks....... It is the cutting edge of gospel music and may need a genre of it's own, to do it justice! The release date is Spring 2015, So Stay Tuned!! On the BreakThrough project I used a whole new arsenal for the bass trax..... I have hooked up with S.I.T. Strings, and they have made me a custom gauged Stainless Steel set to my spec, Killer tone! I am using them exclusivly both on the basses I play and on all of the basses I build. I have also switched from my trusty SWR cab's to Epifani. WOW! Now I no what my basses really sound like.
Peace,
